The Closing of the Bones Ceremony — known in Latin America as “Cerrada de Caderas” — is a sacred healing ritual rooted in the traditions of many Indigenous cultures around the world. It’s a ceremonial rite to honor transitions in a woman’s life — whether from birth, loss, or any profound shift.
This deeply transformational experience will be held in loving community — a space where each woman is both giver and receiver in a circular offering of support, voice, and presence.
Our prayer is that you emerge lighter — releasing stagnant emotions, imprints, and stories — as the vibration of our instruments, our witnessing, and your own breath guide you gently back into your body.
Join us in November for this potent ceremonial gathering.

About the Event

Join Zhenya Novareign and Anna Demetra Badoian to embark on a deeply personal journey into the heart of the Masewal Maya healing traditions through the lineage of Yucatec Maya Elder Don Elijio Panti.

Learn the essential anatomy and physiology of the pelvic and abdominal organs and what happens when they become unbalanced. In this training, you will learn the legacy and lineage of this work as well as: self-massage, anatomy, physiology, pelvic steams/soaks, castor oil therapy, herbal support, plant spirit medicine, & tools for nervous system regulation.

Completing this program will qualify the participant to perform the abdominal massage on themselves. This Tul’ix self-care training is the pre-requisite for students who wish to continue to the practitioner or belly provider training.

This training will take place on Zoom with many opportunities to get off the screen and engage in hands-on learning.

As educators, we strive to use inclusive language that makes this work accessible to people of all genders, body sizes, races, sexual orientations, expressions & identities.

Suggested Reading:

Witches, Midwives & Nurses: A History of Women Healers 2nd Edition

by Barbara Ehrenreich & Deidre English

Links:  Audiobook or Hard Copy

Content Warning: This book reveals the history of the inquisition in Europe as well as the United States. When I read it, it made me very angry and I could only listen 20 min at a time. Please take care of yourself. The reason I am suggesting this reading is that is helps us remember why this work is so important, but can also remind us why at times we find it very hard.
